Can This Lands Create a Global Brand?

Lately, I've felt a lot like Erdener Abi — the famous cartoon character who's always grumpy and detached. Thanks to my increasing workload and fatigue, I've been cutting myself off from the outside world. Occasionally, I'll give one-word answers to questions. My friend Uğur was the latest to experience this.

He sent me the link to something he wrote on Bildirgeç. I clicked it via MSN, glanced at the title and content, and said one word: "Nope.”

A Perpetual Debate

Whether these lands can produce world-class brands has been a hot topic in marketing for years. Recently, local tech and web businesses have joined the debate. It was even the subject of a book once (though it read more like a sponsor tribute). The article reignited the conversation, with some arguing there's a missing foundation, others complaining about insufficient support, and a few asking, "Why not?" It was clear there were strong opinions; some predicted big changes, while others criticized them.

Why I'm Tired of This Conversation?

My friend Ufuk's real-life examples didn't make sense to me either. Honestly, I don't see a genuinely global brand emerging out of these lands — not even in more established business (and if your first instinct is to say "Beko," please exit this page…
